3.2. Step 1 - Creating Tests and Questionnaires

The structure of your test is set. Your questions and answers (for the test and the questionnaire) are right in front of you on a sheet of paper. Questions and answers in electronic form will make things a lot easier because then you can use the copy and paste function of your computer. How to create a test will be explained further down (see A - F). Have a look at the picture as well. A questionnaire can be generated the same way, just replace the term "test" with the term "questionnaire" in your mind.

In order to be able to re-use your test within an other LMS we trust in the file format IMS-QTI (current version: 1.2), a standardized e-learning format. For further information please go to Kapitel 6. OLAT Reference.

Your first step is to

  1. log in as OLAT user with author rights (you are in your Home index right now),

  2. select "Learning resources" in the menu,

  3. click "Test" in the box "Create", insert at least "Title" and "Description" before saving your input (your test is now stored in learning resources, however, without questions or answers),

  4. start the test editor,

  5. create your test by organizing it with the help of sections; in those sections you can then insert your prepared questions and answers,

  6. close the test editor (its structure, questions, and answers are now savely stored in learning resources.

Now your test is complete and can be implemented in your course.
